This expo was held by the former Ministry of Light Industry once a year. The Expo focused on the major development and achievements of China's light industry since the reform and opening, which is an overall review of China's light industry products. With a high level, large scale and full variety, the expo focuses on new products, new processes, new technologies and new equipments in the light industry. The exhibit categories include household appliances, daily hardware, food and beverage, daily chemical products, sewing machines, bicycles. Musical instruments, watches, ceramics, furniture, plastic products, leather goods, cultural and sporting goods, arts and crafts, etc. Each exhibition covers an area of nearly 20,000 square meters, exhibiting more than 10,000 products from more than 20 light industries and nearly 2,000 companies across the country. Party and state leaders such as Jiang Zemin, Li Peng and Buhe have visited the exhibition to inspect and guide.
